NVIDIA unveils Jetson Orin Nano 2 for advanced edge AI on compact robots

NVIDIA has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a new generation of robotics computers aimed at entry-level edge AI applications. The compact system is designed to run advanced AI models locally on devices such as delivery drones, inspection systems, and smart consumer robots, without relying on constant cloud connections.
The hardware taps into a clear trend in the industry: AI models are becoming more compact and efficient. As a result, an increasing number of devices at the edge of the network can reason in real time, interpret spoken language, and process visual information from their surroundings directly.
Doubled performance at lower power consumption
The Jetson Orin Nano 2 delivers 78 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI computing power. The module features an 8-core Arm CPU and 8 GB of memory. Thanks to renewed Tensor Cores and higher memory bandwidth, the compute unit achieves twice the inference performance of its predecessor, the Jetson Orin Nano Super, within the same physical form factor.
Besides the speed gains, energy efficiency has also been improved. In 15-watt mode, the Jetson Orin Nano 2 consumes up to 40 percent less energy at equivalent performance. The platform runs on NVIDIA's open software stack and is suited for running optimized language and vision models locally, including NVIDIA Cosmos, Nemotron, Gemma 4, and Qwen 3.
Real-world applications in drones and household robots
Several companies have already begun integrating the hardware. Wing, an Alphabet subsidiary specializing in drone delivery, is exploring the Jetson Orin Nano 2 to speed up the visual perception of its delivery drones and make navigation safer.
Matic Robots is also applying the chip in its autonomous cleaning robots. The extra computing power is being used for voice-controlled AI, gesture recognition, and live mapping of dynamic indoor spaces.
Availability from 2027
More than 3 million developers are already using the Jetson platform. Several hardware partners, including Advantech, AAEON, ADLINK, and Seeed Studio, are working on carrier boards and custom modules to speed up the market launch of end products.
NVIDIA expects to make the Jetson Orin Nano 2 module and its accompanying developer kit commercially available in the first half of 2027.
